Mississippi State Football: Zach Arnett Named Interim Head Coach

Proven Leader Leads Bulldogs into Next Chapter

Zach Arnett Takes Reins of Program

Zach Arnett has been named the interim head football coach for Mississippi State University. The announcement was made today, and Arnett takes over for Joe Moorhead, who was fired earlier this week. Arnett has been serving as the team's defensive coordinator since 2018.

Arnett is a proven leader with a strong track record of success. He helped lead the Bulldogs to the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in 2018 and the Outback Bowl in 2019. Arnett is also the youngest head coach in the SEC and the second-youngest head coach of a Power 5 program.

"Zach is a rising star in the coaching profession, and we are excited to have him lead our football program," said Mississippi State athletic director John Cohen. "He is a proven winner with a deep understanding of our program and our state. We believe he is the right person to guide us back to prominence."

Arnett said he is honored to lead the Bulldogs and is excited for the challenge. "I am grateful for this opportunity and I am committed to building a successful program on and off the field," said Arnett. "We have a great group of players and coaches, and I am confident that we can achieve great things together."

Arnett will make his head coaching debut on Saturday, November 28, when the Bulldogs host Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.
